Augmented reality and QR codes

This is basically proof-of-concept that this is already possible in flash, today. What you do is take saqoosha’s FLARToolKit, add keno’s QR code reader, and load results into 3d engine (in this case, kiroukou’s sandy).

Clicky to see PoC

It doesn’t require webcam, just click to upload your test image. It also makes use of saqoosha’s PixelBender homography transform filter, since keno’s reader apparently doesn’t do that on its own (and generally is very sensitive to input bitmap, I must add). Default image comes from here.

Re-compiled and re-uploaded SWF with fixed QR decoder, now it recovers correct text.

    Hello Mark,
Any idea why this is not working for me..
I tried to upload a QRCode generated through http://qrcode.kaywa.com/ but the sample swf did not redraw the lines based on the orientation, or did i get the understanding of the demo wrong?

this is poc (not production) quality code. it has known limitations (e.g. flartoolkit detection result orientation is not taken into account), and over-uses 3D (using 2D information for homography should give much better results). these things could be dealt with, but I didn’t feel motivated enough to do that at that time :)
